Description
Blackwood 6x1 RS no knots (clear grade) Price is for all the timber you see in the photo.
I have used my artistic licence to carefully produce this amazing set of matched boards from a very special log I have been pondering on for a few years.
The very beautiful grain is derived from the skilled sawyer extrapolating the unusual tree characteristics.
Blackwood (also known as Acacia Malanoxylon, Tasmanian Blackwood, hickory, mudgerabah or blackwood acacia) is a close relative to the Hawaiian Koa which is renowned to be one of the most expensive timbers in the world.
Hard to come by, Blackwood was initially grown in New Zealand as a forest hardwood species that could replace the need to fell native trees. Although the large mainstream companies haven't taken to it because it is difficult and time consuming to grow, there are still several foresters and farmers that are dedicated to the development of the species as a viable alternative native timbers. At Crecora Estate, we have a small stand of mature trees that we can select from for customers who are looking for something very special.
Let me know what you want and I can list an auction for you. or please visit us to discuss your needs.
Our logs are sourced from local woodlots or hedgerows that are harvested in a sustainable manner. We then cut them using our Mahoe or Woodmizer portable sawmill.
