Description
Welcome to the TARDIS - A unique glamping cabin or sleepout designed around an ex Telecom cell site equipment box. If you want a point of difference then this is it!
Its solid! The green box is heavy duty freezer style polystyrene panel & I think it has a painted galvanised steel roof...or it might be stainless steel?!? All mounted on a robust steel frame about 200mm deep. These are rugged, & designed to be craned or helicoptered into place.
I have added the 200 x 200 tanalised skids so I can tow the cabin around the property.
The deck out front is removable
The overhead canopy is supported by a 25mm NB galvanised pipe frame & covered with a long life agricultural fabric from Redpaths.
Posts are 90x90 gauged tanilized timber as are the two rails supporting the roof structure.
The windows were added and are all double glazed - 1 x large in the side and 2 x small on the back so you can look outside when in bed.
Painting didnt quite happen but I can supply the paint matched by Resene for the white additional panels on the rear.
I moved the Telecom box onto site with a large braked tandem trailer then added the remaining components in place. All the additional parts are easily unbolted for transport although it could be shifted with a HIAB using a pilot.
Please call KT Cartage in Kerepehi re a price to shift if not doing it yourself. See https://ktcartage.co.nz I have an estimate from them of $1700 within 100kms of Hikuai BUT DO GET A QUOTE BEFORE BIDDING. KT are excellent and well respected in the industry.
Everyone who has stayed in the TARDIS say it's comfortable & warm. The double bunk bed can be sold too if required.
The cabin is in HIKUAI Coromandel
Payment required within 3 days of winning the auction Collection is required within 2 weeks of payment.
I can assist the buyer with disassembly if not transported in one piece.
The white cover is ok to be reused but they are cheap enough to replace. I have had 15 years out of the same material on a barn.

Hi there, does the pipe roof over need to be there? I guess it helps protect the cabin. Without it, would the roof be fully water tight? This would very much work for a new venture that I have in mind. I am 40 mins north of Coromandel township. pongastump (8 • 9:42 pm, Thu, 7 Aug )HI there. In short no. The box is fully watertight and has a roof built in. I added the canopy to cover the porch and the end windows. Its should also help keep the box cooler in summer...at least that was part of the idea. Cheers ZZ ziggyzag (475 • Thursday, 7 August 2025 )Hi to the 500 watchers. I have had to dissaseemble the cabin roof and remove the base to transport the unit off my propert on Friday...just a few Kms up the road. BUT NOTE ITS NOW DISSASSEMBLED for easier transport ie. by large trailer, or HIAB Seller comment Wednesday, 13 August 2025 Hi again - NOTE that the white cover is no longer being sold with the cabin.
