OUR Story

In 2020, three engineers, brilliant in their fields: Computer science, Mechanical design, and supply chain logistics met while working on a an ICT project. Despite our different backgrounds, we shared a quiet frustration: we wore uncomfortable shirts to long shifts and meetings, not because we wanted to — but because quality clothing was too expensive for most working professionals.

One evening after a beer or four, after another day of adjusting ill-fitting collars and wiping sweat off synthetic sleeves, “Isn’t it crazy that we can design rocket components with micron-level precision, but we can’t find a decent shirt that doesn’t cost half a paycheck?”

That sparked something. “What if we built a shirt that felt premium, lasted for years, and cost what an average worker could actually afford?”

That's how we set out finding the best fabric on the market, while we thought the Lacoste and Ralph Lauren polos would be the best materials out there for polo shirts, we actually dug further with manufacturers and realized that Hugo Boss actually had the best fabric for Polo shirts. Then we advised the manufacturer to keep the same thread count but add a 3rd dying process to make the colour last longer. The end product was a very very very high quality shirt!

SOB - SHADES OF BLACK Was the eventual brand name which we were extremely proud of but what we didnt consider was COVID. COVID came just as we launched the brand and then everything fell apart. We three split up/one left New Zealand and we were never able to drive the growth the brand required

Now we are here, we have 600x shirts available and listing them as $1 reserve to hopefully recoup our costs.

We had a RRP$129 per Polo on our initial order to scale our production but we have now threw in the towel. You will not be disappointed with the quality of these, guaranteed!!!
