Description

This has been my passion project for 3 years, and my daily driver for 1.

This is a Macintosh Classic shell, with a Mac Mini M1 inside. The ports on the back have been updated. you have access to both USB-A ports, Both USB-C ports, and headphone jack.

You also have the option to run an external monitor through HDMI instead of using the built-in screen - just push the little black button on the back top left.

Mac Mini Specs: M1 8GB Ram 256 HDD

The built-in display 1024x768 at 75Hz

This is a passion project for a tinkerer, someone who likes 3D printing and a bit of electrical work.

  • Hey random question- would you happen to have the original steel chassis that was inside that held the motherboard and hard drives in place? Mine is has a big rusted hole in it from a battery leak and I've been keeping an eye peeled for a replacement :-) r*************r (104) • 10:57 pm, Sun, 11 May I do! Let me go check its state scouser84 (184) • Sunday, 11 May 2025
  • Hi there, what LCD panel did you choose for this project? I am looking to do something similar with my Mac Plus :) s******4 (470) • 11:46 pm, Mon, 12 May This is an 8inch HE080IA-01D IPS display, 1024*768. There is a few 3D print files for the frame, and I designed the back panel to mount the power and controller board. scouser84 (184) • Monday, 12 May 2025
  • Hey super tidy set up with the rear ports, nice work. Can you post a pic of your 240v rail? Or describe how you did it so you split out the screen and the Mac power? Thanks heaps r****x (188) • 5:33 pm, Thu, 15 May Hey, I followed a guide online about splitting the port using WAGO connectors using an instuctibles guide from a guy making a raspberry pi arcade. That splits the 240v to the Mac mini and for the LCD power supply which converts it down into…. What the lcd needs :) scouser84 (184) • Thursday, 15 May 2025
  • Epic - thanks for the intel, appreciate that. I’m building a rpi5 system with an 8” touch screen, 3d printer lcd frame (box I’ve done) and am trying to figure out the power and rear ports part now. Love how clean yours looks. Nice r****x (188) • 6:20 pm, Thu, 15 May Thanks man. it took a long time, especially the wiring. scouser84 (184) • Thursday, 15 May 2025
