Description
5 x well seasoned Cupressus macrocarpa planks. What makes these different is that the tree was felled in 1994, chainsaw milled on-site, the planks were painted with old-fashioned terrabine and linseed oil to minimise shrinkage and cracking, and they've been dry-stored, with spacers, ever since. Thus, 31 years of seasoning. No cracking. I admit I've been hauling this timber around with me for all that time, but it's time to de-clutter the sheds. 3 rough sawn @ 3050 x 380 x 50 1 rough sawn @ 3050 x 175 x 50 1 dressed @ 1875 x 380 x 45 See the photos. Some beautiful straight grain, some relatively small knots, but variable as macrocarpa usually is. The narrow plank dresses up with a pinkish tinge. Too good to waste on trivial projects, suitable for woodcrafts. Also shown, as an example only and not included in the sale, is a photo of the type of thing I've used this wood for over the years -- an oiled occasional table in "giant saw-horse" style. Hope this inspires your imagination to use this wood as it deserves. Offered as a lot, won't separate because it's all of one known age.
