It has been air-dried for over 10 years and was originally prepared for a custom project commissioned by a client in Italy. It is now available for a limited time.

Optional Kiln Drying

We can kiln dry the slab to a 10–12% moisture content for an additional $150, completed at our Kumeu kiln facility.

About Totara Wood

Totara (Podocarpus totara) is one of New Zealand’s most respected native hardwoods. Known for: * Warm reddish-brown tones * Straight, tight grain * Excellent workability and carving quality

Historically, Totara was used by Maori for waka (canoes), wharenui carvings, and structural beams due to its durability and beauty. Its heartwood is ideal for indoor use in fine furniture and art.
