Description
The Celestron C14 is a benchmark in the astronomical world. This one is mounted on a top spec Losmandy equatorial mount which also has a strong following. It is a schmidt cassegrain telescope that combines a short tube length with long focus length potential. Our local society has asked me to list this telescope because it is simply not being used. We have a C11 and our members have no trouble using it because of its basic hand controls. The Gemini system on the losmandy has proved to be too complicated for our astro enthusiasts using our observatory. This system has a lot of quirkes, and needs to be taken up by someone who has good IT comprehension. We think that the best way forward is to have someone who understands IT a lot more and perhaps use it with a laptop. See closeup of electronic board for usb connection. The telescope itself is in great condition optically, however the tube itself has suffered cosmetic damage with bubbles and blisters as seen in the hi res picture attached. The Losmandy mount seems to be in pristine condition. However, it is mounted on a pier which is permanent, so the telescope will be offered as a tube assembly plus Losmandy Titan 2008 mount only. And pick up only, as this is not an easy one man job to remove. My personal viewing experience has been second to none, including the Homunculus in the Eta Carina nebula, the only time I have ever seen the dumbbell visually. We will offer it for $4500, a bargain when you consider what you are getting for the money. It comes with 3 standard type eyepieces and a 2inch to 1 and a quarter adapter. I have checked the RA and DEC slewing and they seem to work ok. I and have included a close up photo of the control box without the cover.

Terry do you know the model of the losmandy mount? buddha999 (85 • 8:03 pm, Sat, 9 Aug )I am afraid not, because I was not active in the club at the time, but I do believe it was the top one at the time, you may be able to look up on the net to see which one it was. There does not seem to be any model seen on the mount when I photographed it. turbotek1 (8 • Saturday, 9 August 2025 )It is Titan mount 2008. Seller comment Saturday, 9 August 2025
