Description
Made in Japan from 1973 to 1976, this vintage amplifier has some really nice features, two phono inputs for turntables, Tone Defeat*, and pre/main switching so it can be used as a preamplifier to a separate power amplifier or vice versa.
The output is 18 watts per channel into 8 ohms which equates to about 40 watts per channel in today's terms. Plenty loud enough for any regular household, this amp wouldn't be suitable to rock a huge party however, its sound is described as refined and smooth and i've read that they won't sound good if pushed to the limit.
Cosmetically it is in good shape with expected wear and tear, although please see the photos, two of the ends of the fine black switches have the ends broken off so you'd need to be ok with that.
Pick up is available from Sandringham in Auckland or we can ship it to you at your expense. Feel free to ask any questions, Please check out our other vintage audio listings and thanks for looking :)
*Tone Defeat (also called EQ Defeat or Tone Bypass) is a function where the audio signal bypasses the bass and treble circuits, the idea being that with reduced interference the signal is cleaner and sounds better. In my experience this isn't just a gimmick and i use this function on amps which have it.
