Connect your CD player output to the input of the tape recorder under test Select the particular brand and type of tape you plan to use Using a blank reel (cassette) of this tape, perform the following series of adjustments in the following sequence: First, adjust the recording Level to "0-VU" using Track 2, 1kHz signal. Next, adjust the recording head Azimuth for maximum output signal using Track 3 and Track 4, 8kHz and 15kHz tones monitoring recorded signal. Then, adjust the bias control for optimum flatness using Track 5, 1kHz-10kHz-100Hz tone sequence monitoring recorded signal. Next, adjust the noise balance control (if any) for minimum noise (no signal). Then, using Track 6 to Track 21, 31.5Hz-20kHz -20dB tones recorded on the CD adjust the recording equalizer of the tape recorder for most uniform 31.5Hz-20kHz frequency response monitoring recorded signal. Finally, adjust "0-VU" level using Track 22, 1kHz 0dB tone monitoring recorded signal.
