Surprisingly good sound from this great Sony amp and these classic Philips speakers.

The Amp is a Sony STR-DE497, which puts out a solid 80 watts per channel into 8? (stereo). It was originally an AV surround sound receiver, but I've been using it just to drive these great speakers and it excels at the job.

Speakers are Philips 23RH446, which were made in New Zealand back in the day under license, and sound awesome for the money. I purchased these from my speaker tech who has given them a good going over, and who REALLY rates this model as perhaps the most affordable pretty-decent vintage speaker out there. They give a particularly good rendering of mid range and vocals, with pretty decent bass too given their vintage. Not super power hungry - meaning the Sony really makes them shine. Dimensions (HWD) in cm: 61 x 41 x 22. Weight: 13kg each.

Cosmetic wear and tear and marks on the amp and speakers as per photos, but these have it where it counts...crystal clear sound at a great price point.
