This speaker is weatherproof but does not mean that you can hose it, or install it where it is 100% exposed to water , what it is meant to be is that with wet weather conditions etc the speaker can still survive with the moisture around. This is an indoor & outdoor unit. It is considered weatherproof. We don't call it water proof because it is unable to be submerged under water. It has special rubberized coating to allow for use in high moisture and wet environments. They are also suitable for salt area applications. The grills in most cases if metal are of Aluminium & painted and treated to prevent rust and discoloration though we cannot stop nature causes or act of God..
