Description
For sale is the highly desirable flagship turntable from one of the best ever manufacturers…the stunning Thorens TD-125 MkII.
This was Thorens’ top of the line record player and according to a vintage “Gramophone” magazine review, the TD125 on launch cost more than the TD124 and 150 added together!!
The MkII is the best version they produced and this beauty comes fitted with a very nice static-balanced tonearm, with oil-damped cuing and anti-skate.
The TD-125 MK II features three speeds: 16, 33, and 45 & there is a pitch controller and a stroboscope for precise speed adjustment.
Tone Publications recently re-reviewed the TD-125 and said “It’s a turntable with evocative 1960s styling, excellent isolation from footfalls, generous space to accept most 9” arms, and – above all – a sound that settles nicely between the romantic and the hygienic”
With a good tonearm they also said:
“You’d be forgiven for thinking that it was a $6000 front-end.”
The tonearm (I believe is Japanese-made) and comes with removable headshell, fitted with a Nagaoka MP110 cartridge / stylus. This audiophile grade cartridge features a SuperFine polished elliptical, bonded diamond. https://www.avworld.co.nz/product/nagaoka-mp110-cartridge/
It’s in superb mechanical condition and comes mounted in the original pinth, which has been re-clad in New Zealand Rimu. It has the original dust cover, which is fully functional, with just a few of the usual marks.
The turntable comes with record weight, a whole host of manuals for the turntable, plus a copy of The Absolute Sound’s “Guide to Vinyl Playback”, where one of their writers named the TD125 as ‘one of the most significant turntables of all time’.
Now is your chance to secure a true legend!
