Custom made plinth and lid plus using 5x Technics SL1200 hinges for lid counterbalancing. I bought this turntable motor unit years ago but the paint was bad in several places. Completely stripped and polished the cast aluminium. The cast aluminium's dulled and slightly flawed finish from the casting process looks great as there is a beauty and ruggedness to it. Other Technics sp15 decks on Google images seeded the inspiration. The arm was rewired with OFC cloth covered tonearm wire and has RCA outputs installed at the bottom of the arm. Comes with 1.3 m van den Hul interconnect and a couple of extra armboards. The Technics has been fully serviced whilst apart and inspected for any dry joints and resoldered if any suspect. Installed for sale is a magnesium bodied EEI cartridge with a new spherical stylus which tracks at 2 grams. It has that full bodied roundness and good focus that this combination should have. The Lid still has its factory protective "glad wrap" so the new owner will have a pristine new unscratched lid. The Lid and hinges cost about $600 due to the spring loaded hinges being exorbitant in price so a great deal when added individually and considering the time involved in putting it all together. My background if it matters was working for London and Sydney top end dealers doing repairs,preparation, installation and sales for over 25 years. Comes with extra 18 gram heavy headshell for use if you were to want to install your own Moving Coil cartridge... in particular I am thinking a Denon 103 or similar which works brilliant in this arm when used with the heavy headshell. An extremely good match what with rewiring. The standard SME headshell is simply not suitable for use with a Denon 103 MC or similar. Pickup only as setting the arm up after transport needs some knowledge. I am prepared to train anybody at the pick up on how to set the SME setup so don't panic..but you will need roughly an hour spare.
