Description
A Retro Colletable.
I got this from my wife's mothers house in Japan and brought it back with me.
These were produced from the 1960s until the early 2000s. This particular unit was purchased sometime in the late 70s to early 80s by my wife's grandmother and was used to play traditional Japanese music at social events that she hosted.
Runs off D cell batteries or 100v AC using a stepdown transformer.
Plays 33 and 45 rpm Auto stop on arm rest. Pitch Control.
Taken from the web: "Legendary portable turntable from Columbia Japan! Throughout the 90s and into the early 2000s the portable turntable market was essentially nonexistent other than the famed Columbia GP-3 Turntable. Built like a tank, the turntable had a cult following amongst diggers and was often issued in special editions and different color variants. Featuring a built-in speaker, headphone output (mono but can easily be fixed with adapter), pitch adjustment, and a very unique clamp that allows the deck to play vertically. The portable deck can be battery powered or plugged in via the hardwired plug that neatly tucks away in the battery compartment"
NOTE: This unit needs a new idler wheel and cartridge- the idler wheel is slipping so the platter won't rotate.
The clamp that enables records to play upside down is missing.
The battery cover is missing-however there are 3D printing files online.
This unit is 100v, you will need a stepdown transformer if you wish to run it off the mains, or you can run it off batteries
Also Sold as the Anabas GP-N3R which retails for between $350 to $400
