In Stock The Braunton Audio DDS-2 is a Direct Digital Synthesiser to control the frequency of AC supply for Garrard and Lenco or other similar AC turntable motors.

The DDS-2 enables the removal of a major source of motor drive system distortion consistent across all Garrard restorations I’ve owned or heard in the past. A pure sinewave is generated by the DDS chip for rock-solid speed control and convenient push-button speed change to 45rpm. Supply voltage is dropped to 195v producing less vibration from the motor without affecting torque. The Eddy Current brake can be disabled by setting the Garrard’s lever to “+”, or even better, the eddy disc removed entirely.

I’ve taken this a step further also removing the capstan/ pulley to drive the Idler wheel directly on the motor shaft. The results were such an improvement I requested an extended frequency range available on the controller to allow 33 and 45RPM with or without the need for a pulley. Along with power supply improvements, Colin perfected the new DDS-2.

The Braunton DDS-2 motor controller gets my unreserved recommendation - Garrard and other idler turntables here really can compare with the best given the DDS along with essential maintenance and selection of parts.
