Description
This is a 5th Generation iPod Video (30GB), first released in 2005. Known as the “true video iPod,” it was the first model marketed to play TV shows and movies, making it a huge leap from earlier photo-only iPods.
-Excellent condition – kept in a protective acrylic case, screen is flawless (no dead pixels), click wheel works perfectly.
-Factory reset via iTunes – latest software installed, no Apple ID lock (these models never required registration).
-Includes original acrylic case, metal holster, multiple 30-pin cables (including one brand-new sealed cable).
Notes:
-This is a 20-year-old device; battery life is poor and will likely need replacement if you want daily use.
-Requires iTunes to sync (works on Windows/Mac).
-Uses standard 3.5mm headphones (not included).
-The whole iPod is so shiny that there are a bunch of things reflecting off it, notably the phone that I was taking pictures with and some lines in the ceiling. So if something looks weird in a photo, that’s probably the reason!
-The last 2 screenshots show the iPod's information from iTunes.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Pickup available at St. Heliers Library if you'd rather do that than shipping.

Hi, when you say battery life is poor, how long are we talking about? Can you listen to a full album? Just an estimate time please? Cheers caetano (64 • 6:39 pm, Mon, 8 Sep )Good question! I haven't tested it out--I just know that it didn't seem to hold a charge very long while I was checking over it. I will plan to do some additional testing and get back to you in a day or so with more information. oakblue (160 • Monday, 8 September 2025 )Hi there, can you post a photo of the serial number in iPod settings “About” please just to confirm it matches the serial on the back plate? aidanm (54 • 8:34 pm, Mon, 8 Sep )Sure thing — I’ve added a photo from the iPod’s About screen, and also unblocked the serial on the iTunes screenshot. I originally blanked it for privacy, but I suppose that, since these older iPods aren’t actually linked to Apple accounts, it doesn't really matter. oakblue (160 • Monday, 8 September 2025 )Cheers for that. You have a buy now in mind or open to offers? aidanm (54 • 9:52 pm, Mon, 8 Sep )Thank you for asking, but I think at this point I will let the auction run. I'm not sure how else to give everyone a fair shot at winning. oakblue (160 • Monday, 8 September 2025 )Hi would you be open to offers or a buy now price? lau.danielle (22 • 10:27 pm, Mon, 8 Sep )Thank you very much for asking, but I am going to let the auction run. It's the only thing I can do at this point to give everyone a fair shot at winning. oakblue (160 • Monday, 8 September 2025 )Best thing about the 5th gen’s is they come with the Wolfson DAC and they are far easier to get into than the 6th and 7th gen making them ideal for battery replacements, hard drive swaps and modding in general. A fine specimen you have there! michaelrist (75 • 12:37 pm, Tue, 9 Sep )Thank you for sharing that! I actually had no idea the iPod modding scene even existed until recently. Much respect to your community for figuring out all of Apple's cryptic designs--I wouldn't even know how to open one of these things. oakblue (160 • Tuesday, 9 September 2025 )
