This metal reel containes paper-based recording tape from circa the late 40s. Reel in contained in hard plastic "baia" case.
History:
In 1926 Charles Brush of Cleveland, Ohio sold the first piezo-electric featherweight stylus under the name "The Brush Development Company". Piezo electric phonograph pickups and other things were manufactured by the Brush company, and soon their innovatiions shifted to different types of sound recorders. Later in the 1930's Brush began to experiment with developing magnetic tape recorders, called "Soundmirror" and by the advent of World War 2 they had developed sufficiently to sell paper-tape sound recording equipment and technology to the US Military. In the early 1950's the name "The Brush Development Company" was changed to "Brush Electronics Company." with the company remaining at the same address: 3405 Perkins Avenue, Cleveland 14, Ohio during this period.
This auction is for a metal reel of paper-based recording tape as supplied with the "Soundmirror" recorder circa 1947.
