Tallow skincare is beneficial for moisturizing, soothing irritation, and promoting skin barrier repair. It's effective for dry skin, eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis, as it mimics natural skin oils, reduces inflammation, and helps restore skin health. Also great for most skin types when used as a daily moisturiser.

I have been rendering tallow for my own skincare products for the last two years.

This Cosmetic Grade Tallow is made from Grass Fed Grass Finished Beef Suet that I source locally from small farms. It’s been fully rendered using the wet and dry method. During the wet rendering phase I use Celtic Salt and Rain Tank water that contains no fluoride or chlorine. I filter the tallow between each render to get it as pure as possible.

There are lots of how to Tallow Skincare Making methods on YouTube and TikTok that you can use, but this is my method which gives me a beautiful product every time.

Whipped Tallow Recipe (1 kg-makes approx 10-13 100 ml jars. You can halve or quarter the recipe if you wish.

-1 kg Tallow -200 to 250 gms Carrier Oil. (I use Jojoba or
Sweet Almond) -20 to 30 mls Essential Oil (optional). Once you get confident, you can also add dried herbs or Vanilla Pods etc

Method

Add Tallow to a slow cooker or double boiler and gently melt on a low heat (do not boil). I heat to about 50 degrees.

Once melted and while still warm, add the carrier oil and essential oil. Stir gently to blend.

To avoid a grainy tallow, I then pour into a stainless steel bowl. Place the bowl of tallow into the freezer for 10 minutes then remove. Blend with an immersion blender/electric mixer for a couple of minutes. Place back in the freezer for ten minutes and repeat the process until the tallow is nice and creamy (takes me two or three rounds to get a perfect consistency).

Spoon or pipe into jars.

Store in a cool dry place. Shelf life is approximately 6 months.
