Description
Cut Puriri Firewood. Auction is for 1 cubic metre of Puriri cut into roughly 25/30cm lengths. Has been seasoned for two years outside. Al Brown his book on wood fired cooking (Stoked) states "Puriri is arguably the best native firewood to use on the barbecue". Burns extremely hot, retaining its heat in smallish coals according to Al. Very rare to get this in the Wellington region, mainly found in the upper North Island. Could be a great business opportunity to process into smaller bags and sell, especially looking at the price of small bags of manuka/pohutukawa chunks in Mitre 10 ($30 for a tiny bag). I just don't have the time to do this but I think it could be a great sideline for someone who does have the time. Auction is for 1 cubic metre thrown stack as pictured. Two available.
