The Avanti Infrared Thermometer accurately measures surface temperature of cookware and grill pates. It's ideal for measuring cooking oil temperatures when shallow frying and sautéing or the temperature of simmering milk, soups or sauces. Unlike an ordinary thermometer, an infrared one does not need to physically touch the surface of what it's measuring, eliminating cross-contamination. Simply point the thermometer at your target and press the trigger - a laser pinpoints the surface temperature, which is shown on an easy to read backlit digital display.
