Occasionally some water can pool underneath the lamp, as they absorb moisture from the air. We advise that you do not place the lamp on top of electrical devices (such as TVs or stereos). As the salty water may corrode some surfaces, we also advise that the lamp is kept on a place-mat or something similar. Salt lamps can be heavy and present a danger if they fall - avoid placing them on a wobbly surface, especially where young children may pull on the cord. Some pets - especially cats - may try and lick the salt lamp. If they do this too frequently it can lead to salt toxicity which can make them very ill so it is advisable to keep the lamp out of reach of pets or discipline them if you notice them licking it.
