Today we have good tenor voices, but back in the 50's, 60's and begining of the 70?s , there were great tenor voices around to choose, and Franco Corelli was one of them; with a fine technique and a full, ringing voice, evenly produced up to a High D, not to mention a great stage presence. This CD is a compilation of two previous issues by EMI of operatic arias and excerpts from his catalogue, for me the highlights are the Nessun dorma, the trovatore excerpts, Celeste Aida and Ah, leve toi soleil from Gounod's Romeo and Juliette, a fine recording (if you are not a purist of the french language) in its own right. Highly reccomended.
