Description
New item from Waihalla, the afterlife for wood - hand made on Waiheke Island.
Pocket sized wood block, striker and tuning wedge made from native New Zealand kanuka. The striker can be stored in the block with the wedge sitting beneath it. In case you don't know, hold the label side in the palm of your hand and strike the block near the middle by the rounded edge with the striker and take in the primal beauty of the sound (D6 tone approximately, going all the way up to the A above that with the wedge gently inserted in the slot).
It is a beautiful display piece also, standing nicely on its end - plus, you can tell people it was the prototype for Def Leppard's radar phone (sorry millennials, you may have to google that!).
Beeswax finish, block dimensions overall: 179x74x58mm.
