Each Sonata is prefaced by detailed introductory notes tracing the history of each work and discussing points of technique and interpretation. Published in four volumes, this edition is attractively bound and clearly printed on high quality paper. The full-colour medallion portraits which grace the cover of each volume, show the composer at the stage of his life at which he wrote the Sonatas within. Also included are facsimile reproductions of the surviving manuscripts and in Volume 1, four pages of Beethoven's letters.
