Sadie Female Approx 7 years Fostered in Birkenhead, Auckland.
If you are someone who feels animals deeply and wants to make their lives better, you may be the right person to adopt Sadie.
Sadie was likely abandoned as a young adult and had become an inconvenience to a neighbour. We were told by a local in Birkenhead to come and pick her up 'or else'.. and we were worried for her safety. That was around 6-7 years ago. Since then she has spent her time in our foster room. Unfortunately, getting overshadowed by season after season of kittens. And sadly she has become fairly withdrawn - like she gave up hope that there was something or someone else out there for her.
But all the signs of a cat wanting to love and be loved are there. She just needs a chance to feel safe to enable her to figure out who she is outside of being in survival mode, or being one of many rescue cats sharing space and resources.
Sadie WILL be shy when you meet her and she may even tell you she doesn't want to be loved. Don't believe her. Once you gently push past that, she leans into your hand for head rubs like her little life depends on it. She has become much more receptive to affection since our volunteer has been working with her. She will take treats from your hand and will softly purr.
Sadie desperately needs to get out of the shelter. A quiet consistent home (just 1-2 patient, loving people) who are willing to earn her trust and love would be best. No dogs. She is good with other cats, providing there are no big characters who would want to dominate her.
Adoption fee of $200 applies.
All our cats are desexed, microchipped and is up to date with flea and worm treatments.
We prefer to home cats in the Auckland area to avoid stressful long distance travel. Please note we do not operate on a first come first served basis and will wait to find the right forever home for each cat or kitten.
