We have reached the difficult decision to rehome our beautiful rough collie girl, Willow. She will be 3 in July and we adopted her and her sister at 7mths.
Willow is in many ways a lovely and loving dog. She is energetic, playful, very intelligent, eager to please, quick to learn, and soft and cuddly with her family. She is crate and house trained, walks well on a lead, isn’t reactive to other dogs or people when we’re out (although she doesn’t like to be approached by strangers), heels on command for treats and mostly has very good recall.
But at home Willow can be anxious and territorial. She hates noises and visitors, and living in a very busy area with constant city noise there is a lot to trigger her. Willow started life on a farm, and was much calmer when staying on rural land we owned. We now live in Auckland with a small section, surrounded by neighbours, and small dogs who bark and drive her crazy.
Although we love Willow very much, we’ve come to accept that she can’t live her best life with us, and we aren’t able to move.
We are hoping we can find a new home for her in a quiet rural environment with experienced owners without children or other pets, who will love her, keep up her training to bring out her good qualities, and ensure careful introduction to new people. She would make a wonderful, loyal companion for the right people in the right location. She will be very protective of her family and property so will need a fenced area without access to stock, poultry or people visiting, and owners who are home a lot to keep her company.
We would be willing for Willow to go anywhere in the country, if the new home is the ideal situation for her. However we would strongly prefer North Island so we can introduce her over a few visits.
Willow is desexed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, flea and worm treatments.
Happy to give more details to anyone interested in Willow. Please text rather than call in the first instance, with some information about you and your property.
