Description
Jacky is waiting at the Tasman Dog Pound looking for his new home, he’s probably a collie x with maybe some German Shepherd in his make-up. We think he’s around 5 years old. Sleek and well groomed he’s a good looking fellow who seems to be used to people, cars and other dogs.
Jacky was picked up by the Tasman Council Rangers at the Appleby Bridge a few weeks ago, no-one has claimed him so now he is available for adoption. He came microcipped - but it has not been registered with any Council, Companion Animal or Vet clinic, bit of a mystery. Someone has put a lot of work into him; "sit, stay, down, gimme paw" etc he knew them all, but now he's on his own.
He’s a clever dog and because of the collie in his make-up he will need physical and mental stimulation. He listens well, responds to his new name and he’s nice to walk on lead with a harness. With Jacky we don’t worry about runners, walkers or bikes he’s been happy to let them race past him, but he closely watches seagulls and ducks.
Jacky’s photos don't do him justice but they do show him out and about on his walk, behind bars at the Pound and with his new doggy friends. We’ve taken Jacky walking up and down Queen Street, he chats to people at the Baba Yaga Coffee cart at one end, to others along the way and then to more people at Helova Coffee at the other end of Queen Street. On another break from the Dog Pound he had a lovely time visiting friends in Bunnings.
Jackie will be desexed once we arrange for foster care (will you volunteer a week?), he’s been vaccinated and wormed, microchipped as mentioned. For an interview please ring The Tasman Dog Pound 03 543 7012.
