Sky is a very energetic Labrador Collie cross. Fostered Dunedin, visits Oamaru.

She has previously been chained up for much of her life. Her behaviour is more like that of a 5 or 6 month old puppy, i.e. she is destructive with soft toys and cardboard boxes, needing something to chew. She loves peanut butter bones, kongs, deer antlers and other chews.

She is happy to go into her crate when she has to be left alone, as long as given something to occupy her. At bedtime she is given a treat in her crate, after which she settles down for the night. Her recall is quite good. She is reasonable on-lead.

Sky loves being with other dogs, and has fitted in with our dogs really well. She will run and play for as long as they will put up with her. She enjoys galloping round in the paddocks when we visit our farm, and playing in the water. Shows too much interest in sheep and chooks.

Sky could potentially live with a confident cat, she is a little afraid when our cats try to rub up against her but I suspect if they ran, she would chase them (trainable).

She is very snuggly and loves attention. Despite the puppy antics, she is a very sweet girl, who is delighted to interact and be with you. After 8 weeks of foster care, she has really started to settle in and relax more.

Sky’s ideal home would be with an active dog savvy family, (she enjoys being around children), who are motivated to do fun training (classes would be great eg scent work), play games and go on adventures. Someone who is at home most of the day, another dog would be ideal.

We do meetings once the application process is successfully completed.

Adoption – $350, spayed, fully vaccinated, chipped, registered.
