It is with the heaviest of hearts that we are seeking to rehome our gentle giant, Tommy.

Tommy is around 4 years old, at least 30 kgs, a border collie (but we suspect crossed with something else), who is wonderful with children, enjoys lots and lots of cuddles and is the most special dog. Sadly, due to a change in family commitments and our living situation, we can no longer give our beautiful boy the love and attention he so dearly deserves.

Tommy was brought to live with us on a dairy farm in rural Putaruru, in the South Waikato to become a working dog, but quickly made himself a house dog - much to the delight of me (not so much to the delight of my farming partner!).

Things to note: Tommy is a very good guard dog - some would say too good, but beneath the protectiveness is a heart full of gold that is quickly found. He does not do well with cats, but is incredible with children and prefers women due to female breeders. He would be best suited to a lifestyle property with an active owner who can tire him out daily and who isn’t against him snuggling on the sofa and sleeping on the lounge/bedroom floor. He adores being inside with the humans and also connects well with other dogs.

He also loves water, and will happily throw himself into every pool of water he can find - especially cow troughs. It can be very comical watching him climb in and huff and puff.

We are not in a rush to find Tommy’s forever home as it is far more important to us that we find the right owner/s to love on him for the rest of his days.
