2 years old
Location: Auckland (West) Name: Kora Age: 2 Sex: Female Desexed/vaccinated/microchipped: Yes to all but vaccine booster is nearly due Breed: Mixed. Guesses are staffy, sharpei and some kind of hound breed. She is small/medium-25kg.
Reason for rehoming: This sweet 2-year-old girl is looking for a stable, loving home where she can truly thrive. She was originally brought into my previous flat as a puppy and has lived there up until recently. I moved out a couple of months ago, and she stayed behind with my former flatmates. She’s now been staying with me at my new place for a couple of weeks, but unfortunately, this isn’t a permanent solution. Due to personal health challenges, financial strain, and future uncertainty, I’m sadly not in a position to give her the long-term home she deserves.
Temperament: She’s is incredibly affectionate and absolutely adores human attention. She’s very smart, highly food-motivated, and has made great progress with training in the couple weeks she’s been staying with me. She’s gotten along well with familiar dogs but gets worked up seeing new dogs when walking and was told she has developed some reactivity. I believe this is due to anxiety and her past reliance on another dog in the household, so she’d do best as the only pet while she builds confidence and independence.
She has a prey drive and has only ever been around one cat, so a cat-free home is strongly preferred. Her recall still needs work, so she should remain on lead in open areas for now. She’s not an extreme jumper but is athletic, so a fully fenced yard is essential. She had shown some separation anxiety but has become much better since staying with me and isn’t destructive just a bit whiny—she’s more excited than anxious when you return home.
She would thrive with someone experienced or confident with dogs—someone who can offer calm, consistent guidance and a secure, loving environment. With the right person, she has so much potential to flourish into a happy, well-balanced companion.
