18 months old

We’re sadly looking for a new home for our much-loved dog, Comet. He’s a border collie / labrador cross who is sociable, intelligent, and great with kids and other dogs.

We’ve come to the difficult realisation that his needs are more than we can manage alongside our young family. One of our kids now uses a wheelchair, and it is difficult for us to get out and give Comet the regular exercise and stimulation he really needs to thrive. He deserves a home where he can get the time, space, and the attention he’s built for.

Comet is:

• Desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and up to date with flea and worm treatment. He weighs 30kg, and is in good health. Housetrained.
• Great with kids, sociable with other dogs, loves meeting new people and has grown up in a loving home.
• Energetic—he needs regular exercise and stimulation. However he can be left at home when we go out and will tend to sleep.
• Still young, but on his way to being a well trained dog. Has been through obediance classes as a puppy, and again at approx. 10 months old. He is intelligent and highly motivated by treats! Knows the commands: sit, down, stay, touch, leave, shake hands. Generally has good recall. Walking on the lead without pulling is a work in progress, but he is good once he has had the opportunity to burn off some energy!
• Comet is used to our cat and chickens (though he thinks it is great fun to chase cats if they run away rather than holding their ground!)
