Charlie, a loving Golden Retriever/Poodle Crossbreed, looking for a loving home.
Charlie is very good with children, calm and settled allowing children close and be petted and enjoys play. He is great around people in general, with no aggression shown, although he loves to bark at couriers, posties and meter readers.
Charlie loves meeting and playing with other dogs, although he does get over excited seeing other dogs, he has never shown any aggression to other dogs and on the few occasions where another dog has shown aggression to him, he backed away.
Charlie is absolutely a water dog, loves the sea, lakes and rivers and would play in and swim for hours when able. His double coat does become a hindrance to him after 20-30 minutes as it gets waterlogged, however when he has his PFD on he will swim forever. Warning: he does not discriminate with whether the water is muddy or not.
Charlie travels well, loves going for a ride in the car, usually with his head out the window.
Unfortunately, Charlie does not get on well with cats with a desire to chase and bark at any cat that comes in sight, and we have a very nervous, older cat who is unable to deal with a boisterous dog and therefore Charlie has to be rehomed. Controlled interactions with a more confident cat may be able to teach him better behaviour around cats.
Charlie has been prone to separation anxiety but has been okay alone for several hours at a time, so would suit a home where he is not left alone for extended periods as he has a tendency to bark when left alone.
Charlie's ideal home would be one with another dog, and with room to run and play. He would be happiest in a home with children.
