Hi, my name is Dan. I have been battling Long Covid for just over 3 years. My dog, Charlie Le Chien, is my best friend and has been an awesome companion to me.

A few weeks ago, he became unwell and we nearly lost him. Thanks to the amazing staff at Shirley Vets and After Hours Vets (both in CHCH), it was discovered that Charlie had swallowed a piece of bark that lodged in his small intestines. Surgery was successful and he is almost back to 100%.

I didn’t have Pet Insurance. Big mistake! The total cost for surgery and associated care came to just over $5,000. Most of my savings. Ouch.

Friends suggested setting up a GiveAlittle fundraiser, but I thought I’d try here instead.
