Description
Narrow Leaf Java Fern
You will receive 10 plantlets of about the size shown in photo 2.
Narrow Leaf Java Fern is a very popular aquarium plant that is easy to grow for beginners and advanced aquarists alike. Does not require CO2 addition, high light intensity or fertilizer, but will grow faster, and become larger with these additions.
Java fern is an epiphytic plant, meaning it should not be planted in the substrate, but attached to rocks, wood and other decorations. This is to protect the rhizome, which will rot when covered in substrate causing the plant to die. If the actual roots reach the substrate, it is not a problem, but better to be safe than sorry and stay away from it!
To attach Java fern, people use Super Glue (Cyanoacrylate), which is commonly available in stores, and is not toxic or harmful to fish and plants. Of course any other method can also be used, such as fishing line, rubber bands, a staple gun, and so on. Eventually the roots of the Java fern will take hold and keep the plant in place.
I don't use photos taken from the internet. All photos are taken by me, and show the actual item for sale or (in case of plants), the mother plant.
My plants are grown submerged. That means there can be snails (MTS and pond snails), as well as a small amount of duck weed.
