The Mouse House uses New Zealand, Sifted Shale for the base of the enclosure. It absorbs smell and stays dry and the mice love to dig in it! It is also good to discourage mites.

1kg covers an average enclosure. It can simply be sifted when cleaning the cage to remove mess (poop, hay, shredded cardboard, etc) and the clean shale returned to the floor. It can be reused for about a month, dependent on layer thickness.
