Looking for the perfect low maintenance pet? Look no further....We have a pair of males: Cam ( bigger, darker) and Caleb (smaller, lighter). Both of them are ginger and white (smooth haired). They are a bonded pair and we are selling them together. Born 21 July, 3 weeks old at time of listing.
($70 for the pair, i.e. $35/each)
Guinea pigs make great low maintenance pets - if you graze them outside they will mostly eat grass with supplements of hay and fresh veggies/fruit scraps (apples, carrots, cucumber, spinach, melon etc). The more you handle them and hand feed them, the tamer they will be. They need a safe warm place to sleep at night and steady supply of water. More info on caring for piggies can be found here: https://www.spca.nz/advice-and-welfare/article/caring-for-guinea-pigs
It is important to us that they go to a good home so we would like to hear about how you can take care of them.
There are lots of new and used hutches available on TradeMe and at pet shops - try and find one with self access to grass for easiest feeding and cleaning.
Guinea pigs are social animals and should be together as a minimum of 2, with boys and girls kept separate. The boys are hierarchical so we advise against adding these 2 to other boys you might have already or you may have fighting. Best for someone with no other guinea pigs already. Adding these two to a single older male could work as an older male will be the clear alpha, there will still be dominating behaviours by the elder in the early stages.
