I am a Flemish Rabbit enthusiast and am very passionate about this breed of rabbit. They are the ultimate pet. We are based on a small lifestyle block in Algies Bay. All my rabbits are well loved and are socialised with my small dog and get lots of cuddles from myself and my kids.
What does a Flemish need? -Flemish Giants, are confident with other animals (when introduced properly) and can live happily with cats and dogs. -They need an appropriate sized secure space around (3-4 m2) - inside or outside. You CANNOT leave them in a standard size outdoor hutch you'd buy from some of the shops around. -They love a shelter they can relax, lie down and keep dry in. I use small dog kennels for my rabbits. They are the perfect size. -They can be toilet trained to a litter box/area too. -Rabbits need access to hay, grass, greens and pellets each day (approx 1/4 cup per rabbit) My rabbits love chewing on native tree or fruit tree cuttings from my property too. -If they do go inside, they are notorious for chewing wires, so be careful to cover any wires (just like you would for a puppy). -They need their nails clipped (like a dog) and annual vaccinations to protect them from the Calicivirus.
I am happy to ask any questions about Flemish Giants and how we look after them. We get a lot of enjoyment out of our bunnies and know that you will too.
We are located in Algies Bay, near Warkworth.
I can travel to Warkworth, Wellsford or Silverdale to connect with a Pet Transport if needed. I have used A4dibble Transport previously and would recommend them.
