Description

These turtles are new hatchlings. They have shed their “egg tooth,” have begun eating, and acquired their colours. They are now the perfect size for a small indoor turtle set up. Turtles are social animals so we only sell two or more at a time. Each shipment comes with a handout prepared by us that reflects the knowledge accumulated during 50 years of raising, studying and breeding turtles. Follow the instructions and your new pet will stay healthy and entertaining for years to come. We are not allowed to ship turtles to the Auckland area. But we courier turtles out to other areas on most Mondays or Tuesdays so they don’t linger over the week-end in a depot somewhere. Prices are: $50. each for 2-4 turtles plus courier fee from the Far North $40. each for 5-9 turtles plus courier fee $40. each for ten or more and we pay the courier fee

Questions & Answers (17)

  • Hello, we are moving to wanganui on the 27th June from Australia and I am wanting to get a turtle after wanting one for 20 years. Finally moving back to New zealand I look forward to adding our turtle to our family. Will you have any left then? And do you courier to Wanganui? m******2 (0) • 12:50 pm, Thu, 22 May I can't promise to have any left at the end of June. But if you pay for them in advance and send me a snail mail address for the courier I can hold them for you. We do not sell single turtles because they are social animals so unless you have another small one that needs a companion you'd have to purchase two. No problem sending them to Wanganui. marklfeldman (53) • Thursday, 22 May 2025
  • Also would a tank measurement of 130 x 60 x 60 be ok? Or will it need to be smaller? m******2 (0) • 12:54 pm, Thu, 22 May It can be as big as you like as long as you follow the precautions to prevent drowning while they are very young. Those precautions are described in the handout you would get with the turtles. marklfeldman (53) • Thursday, 22 May 2025
  • Can I purchase now and book in a shipment date? I would like to females m******2 (0) • 12:56 pm, Thu, 22 May Yes you can purchase now. We courier them out every other Monday so we could set a suitable date for you as long as you are not in the Auckland area (see the Trademe ad for details). These are hatchling turtles and it is not possible to sex them until they are much older so there's no way I can guarantee the sex! marklfeldman (53) • Thursday, 22 May 2025
  • OK, thank you and how big will they be by end of June? m******2 (0) • 1:58 pm, Thu, 22 May They will not grow at all because they are cold and already brumating. They are hatchlings so vary around 3 cm long. marklfeldman (53) • Thursday, 22 May 2025
  • I would love to buy two now and organise delivery for 7th July that will give me plenty of time ti set up thier tank if that would be possible? I am in Australia still so can I deposit the funds from an Australian bank account? Do they travel well? m******2 (0) • 2:05 pm, Thu, 22 May They travel a lot better than us! They can survive in the shipment box for 2-3 months at these temperatures with no difficulties at all! Can't help you with the banking. I don't have a clue about what you'd need to do from Oz. marklfeldman (53) • Thursday, 22 May 2025
  • Oh, yes, I can hold them until July 7 but I will need that snail mail address for the courier. Seller comment Thursday, 22 May 2025
  • Can I give my address on here or does it have to be via post??..... m******2 (0) • 2:19 pm, Thu, 22 May Just make sure your address is there when you make the purchase. We'll need your full name there too. marklfeldman (53) • Thursday, 22 May 2025
  • Address will be 20 seargent street gonville, wanganui m******2 (0) • 2:21 pm, Thu, 22 May Do you mean Sarjeant Street? Congratulations on the new home! marklfeldman (53) • Thursday, 22 May 2025
  • I read that red eared sliders can live as single pets... are they better in twos? m******2 (0) • 2:46 pm, Thu, 22 May In the wild they always sun together, usually sleep together and hibernate in groups. marklfeldman (53) • Thursday, 22 May 2025
  • OK thankyou I've been doing a mountain of research but any advise you have would be appreciated :) m******2 (0) • 3:46 pm, Thu, 22 May We provide a handout with all you need to know to take care of your new hatchling. marklfeldman (53) • Thursday, 22 May 2025
