Description
I don't actually know anything about this, I just loved it when I saw it about 15 years ago.
As it was more green than clear I put UV light on it and saw it's very green under 365 and blue under 395, this is what Google says... Makers to consider now include:
Mandruzzato (Murano – did controlled Sommerso with uranium)
V. Nason & C. (Murano – did thick, sculptural Sommerso vases with colored cores)
Chribska or Zelezny Brod (Czech – used uranium, similar forms)
Google says - Stunning mid-century modern art glass vase in a teardrop form with a vibrant pink core submerged in thick clear, maybe slightly green crystal. This piece showcases the Sommerso technique, a glassblowing method made famous by Murano artisans but also seen in high-quality Scandinavian glass from the 1950s–70s.
It features a polished flat base, smooth heavy form, and beautiful light refraction through the layered glass.
... but I don't know how to check, so low reserve as I can't guarantee anything. It's very heavy and has air bubbles if that means anything.
