Double Racing Kayak - Stable K2 - 6.5m x 57cm South African Layup - $1 Reserve

This is an old South African K2 double racing kayak. No model listed that I can see, but it looks to be an Accord or similar based on dimensions (about 6.5 m L x 57 cm W) and hull lines. Comes with 2x seats (only one is shown in the photo but they are both the same type) and 2x very basic spray decks. Manufactured by PPC probably in the 1980s. Fibreglass layup. Rough around the edges but good below the waterline. Needs some work as described below. The good bad and ugly below:

Good: hull is in sound condition, fibreglass is gelcoated so still flexible and feels like a solid layup typical of South African river boats. Excellent model for confident beginners or teams of mixed ability, much more stable than most K2 boats with a wider and flatter hull of higher volume. Steers from front. Stability probably similar to a fast double sea kayak, beginner double surfski, or fast adventure race boat. Lightweight for a double, easily moved around and car topped by 1 person.

Bad: foot bar screws are corroded and will need to be lubricated or more likely drilled out if you want to make adjustments. Seat mounting screws in the floor are corroded and will need to be replaced with new ones glassed on in order to securely mount the seats in the boat.

Ugly: the deck/hull join seam needs some attention (there are a few repairs already) and there are some pinholes in the gelcoat on the deck. Glassing the seam and painting the deck could work, or you could use as-is for a training boat on calm waters. The rear of the cockpit coamings is an old style that flexes a lot, so you do not want to sit on the deck when getting in and out unless you reinforce.

Prefer local pickup or delivery, pick up Birkenhead or I can deliver for free within Auckland. If you are further out, roofspace.co.nz is a good option but I would prefer to move it out quickly once sold as I need the space.
