Description
Produced by Trax Carlectables, this 1/43 scale Ford Falcon GTHO was driven in the 1971 Bathurst 1000 Great Race by well known privateer, Bill Brown who is most well known for his horrific rollover at McPhillamy Park. Looks stunnning in period motor racing livery.
This car has never been out of its box (other than to photograph) and has been stored in a box (never been on display).
Happy to combine post with any of the other Bathurst / Supercars listed.
"More than five decades after it occurred, Bill Brown’s crash in the 1971 Hardie-Ferodo 500 still ranks as one of the biggest - if not THE biggest - in the history of the race. And the most memorable, thanks largely to Channel Seven’s historic B&W TV footage which has been viewed millions of times.
After his front tyre blew at high speed through McPhillamy Park, Brown’s dealer-entered GT-HO Phase Three drilled the outer embankment which launched it into and over a wooden ‘safety’ fence, narrowly missing a flag marshal as it destroyed itself in a series of spectacular barrel-rolls.
Brown was beyond lucky to emerge from the wreck with only minor injuries. A key factor in his survival was that his seat’s backrest broke in the impact, which reclined his head and upper body enough to be out of the firing line of the unyielding fence and the Falcon’s collapsing roof."
