I did A LOT of research on many BMW forums, I found the DTUK chips are the best and most reliable for the N47 2 litre diesel engine in BMWs. In fact I couldn’t find anyone who had a bad experience with one, but plenty of issues with tuning boxes from other manufacturers. I have never had any issue with it, it has worked 100% flawlessly. Installation takes 10 minutes or less, just connect the 3 plugs of the wiring harness to sensors under the bonnet (easy to reach and locate) and tuck the chip unit somewhere safe and its ready to go. You can choose from 3 different maps, each with 7 sub-maps which alter the power/torque characteristics slightly. The effect is immediate and very noticeable. The DTUK web site suggests power gains of 40-45hp and torque gains of 80-100nm, and from my experience in a standard New Zealand 320d that feels about right. The chip is easily removable for servicing if required, and in my case did not add to my insurance premium (yes, I checked). The 3 channel chips are way smoother than the 2 sensor models. Oh, and your fuel economy should improve slightly too.

Note that this chip is only programmed for 3 or 4 series (F30/F31/F80) 2 litre diesels 2012 onwards. If you have a 3 litre diesel, or an E90 series 2 litre you could purchase this, post it back to DTUK and they will re-programme it for you and send if back for a small fee, and this would still be cheaper than buying one new and getting it sent out.
