Description

Fake MPPT Solar Charge Controller. No label on the front to indicate how much current this puppy can handle, but I'm claiming 40A! Please don't open it and look at the components, i'll get embarrassed. This controller will sometimes auto detect a 12V or 24V battery. Will it choose 12v or 24? Who knows! Pay your money and take a chance that it guesses correctly! (just to be clear - this is sarcasm, your battery will be destroyed in about 3 days if the controller picks wrong)

Will this controller actually perform MPPT? Absolutely not, but i heard someone say "MPPT" at the pub once, and TradeMe won't police this kind of listing, so lets all say MPPT! MPPT! MPPT! In all seriousness, a proper MPPT controller like an Epever or Victron controller would be a safe option, but why go with safe and boring when you can have exciting and dangerous. Live life on the edge (of fraud). This controller, and every other controller on TradeMe that looks like this, is actually a PWM controller. There is not enough room inside this device to house the components for a 40A MPPT controller. "This controller could increase efficiency by 10%-30%" (but only if you purchased it, put it in a box without connecting it, buried it in your garden, and replaced it with an actual MPPT controller). To ensure i'm being crystal clear here, this PWM controller is NOT an MPPT controller, it is a PWM controller. It absolutely cannot convert all the energy from the panel into battery-charging (or load running) current, all it can do is clip off the voltage above the charging voltage, and the rest is wasted. As a bonus, it is very electrically noisy which is to be expected for PWM.

WHEN THE BATTERY VOLTAGE IS LOW The solar charge controller might automatically cut off the load from the system. It usually works, but it's your battery not mine, so lets see!

For best results, only use this controller on your friend's battery, that way you might lose a friend, but you won't destroy your battery, so IDK, maybe you save money in the long run?
