Description
We get some interesting books through, and this is definitiely one of them. You can imagine Mr Jaggers of Great Expectations having this in his library.
It's an 1847 manual of insolvency law in the UK. Printed single sided throughout and bound in a thick hardback built to last so well that it's still stable almost 180 years on!
'The Law and Practice of Insolvency in the Country Courts, and in the Court of Relief of Insolvent Debtors' by William Paterson, Esq, Barrister-at-law.
This is a real snap shot in time of the Victorian approach to debtors law, which was a massive industry at the time affecting huge numbers of people.
Condition is excellent for its age, spine is in good condition. minimal foxxing. Note that there is a little damage to the edges of the last pages, see photos.
Might be a nice display collectible for someone who works in insolvency or for a Dickens fan who likes to read around the time.
