WHAAAAAAT'S IN THE BOX?

There are a surprising number of these fabulous, heavily lacquered and hand-painted wooden boxes still surviving from the late Georgian and very early Victorian periods. Mostly in the form of snuff boxes, but occasionally you get the larger pieces like these two. Kept around over the decades and centuries because they were durable and attractive pieces to Victorian / Edwardian sensibilities :-)

The smaller box has a bit more wear and is the later of the two, probably more mid to late Victorian. The larger is the older of the two, and despite being older the artwork on the lid has stood the test of time a bit better.

Condition per photos. Both are intact, and structurally sound. Some age appropriate wear & tear as you'd expect for pieces that are well over a century and a half, if not more, in age. Slight corner/edge chipping on the larger box, but no significant issues otherwise.

The smaller box measures 85x55x40mm, the larger is 125x80x50mm.
