Key requirements

For Category Ownership campaigns we require four sizes of display ads:

  • Medium Rectangle (300x250 pixels)
  • Leaderboard (728x90 pixels)
  • In-search Banner (640x200 pixels)
  • Half Page (300x600 pixels)

As well as assets for a native ad:

  • Main image (702x367 pixels)
  • Logo image (100x100 pixels)
  • Copy (headline, body copy, call to action and advertiser name)

These ads appear alongside job search results in your chosen category, taking over all ad units on the page. The display ads can be designed completely to your preference to match your brand specifications.

The banner ads will appear across all devices, as outlined below.

Desktop ads:

Leaderboard (728x90)

In-search Banner (640x200) and Half Page (300x600)

Mobile ads:

Native ad card view / list view and Medium Rectangle (300x250)

Please supply

  • 4x banner ad images (300x250, 728x90, 640x200 and 300x600)
  • Native ad main image (702x367 pixels)
  • Native ad logo image (200x200 pixels)
  • Native ad copy (pdf downloaded from the native ad builder)
  • Click-through URL (with UTM parameters if required)
  • 1x video file (optional extra)

Full ad specifications

Display Banner Specifications

Image dimensions (width x height):

  • 300x250 pixels (Medium Rectangle)
  • 728x90 pixels (Leaderboard)
  • 640x200 pixels (In-search banner)
  • 300x600 pixels (Half Page)

File size: 80 KB or less
File format: PNG, JPG or GIF
Animation: accepted

For animated GIF ads, we require it to loop no more than three times. The same maximum file size applies also.

Native ad specifications

1: No text on the image.
Unlike display ads, our native ads have space for your copy (headline, body copy, call to action & name) built into them. So, there's no need for any copy on your image.

2: The image must have the most important content in the centre.
The image will be cropped to a square in some instances and display fully in others.

These specs make it possible for your native ad to fit in seamlessly across all Trade Me platforms (mobile app, mobile browser and desktop). We strongly recommend using our Native Ad Builder so you can check that you are happy with how your ad will display.

Main image:

  • Dimensions: 702x367 pixels (width x height)
  • File size: 70KB or less
  • File format: PNG or JPG
  • Animation: not acepted
  • No text or logos on the image, important content in the centre as list view is a centred square 367x367px

Logo image:

  • Dimensions: 200x200 pixels
  • File size: 10KB or less
  • File format: PNG or JPG
  • Animation: not accepted


  • Headline: 30 characters max.
  • Body copy: 90 characters max.
  • Call to action: 25 characters max.
  • Advertiser name: 25 characters max.
  • No full words in capitals, sentence or title case only

Video ad specifications (optional extra)

  • Format: MP4
  • Audio level: -18 LKFS
  • File size: 64 MB or less
  • Dimensions: Displays at 640x360 (16:9 ratio)
  • Duration: 30 seconds or less
  • Recommended bitrate: 3000 kbps (video) and 128 kbps (audio)
  • Video autoplays with sound off, sound on is user-initiated.

Important notes

  • You may supply up to a maximum of 3 creative executions to run on rotation per campaign.
  • Assets to be received seven working days before the start of the campaign for testing and loading. Failure to do so may result in your campaign not starting on time.
