About us

Key information for our new DealerBase RestAPI

We're making some upgrades to the way you list vehicles on Trade Me.

On July 1 2024, we're releasing our new DealerBase RestAPI which will retire our current FTP support. As a result, FTP support will be taken down on July 1 2024.

If you currently use a VMS or DMS provider to upload your listings to Trade Me, there's no action required from you. We've been working with them already to ensure a smooth transition to our new system so that your listings continue to upload seamlessly to Trade Me.

Why have we created the RestAPI?

Our Product and Engineering teams have been working hard on our new DealerBase RestAPI which will provide you:

  • Much faster processing of listings
  • Fewer errors
  • Accurate troubleshooting
  • More platform security

This is part of our continued efforts to improve and modernise our dealer platform thanks to industry feedback.

What needs to happen between now and July 1st

  • VMS tools need to complete their integration work, with support from the Trade Me engineering teams.
  • Dealerships will be migrated across by the VMS, it is up to them to tell you when this is happening.

What will happen on July 1st

  • All listings still being sent to Trade Me via FTP will NOT be published to Trade Me.
  • Dealership branches who have not been migrated will need to manually upload all listings information at Dealerbase.co.nz.
