Trade Me Partners with CarExpert to Boost Kiwi Confidence in Finding the Right New Car

Trade Me & CarExpert's New Joint Venture: CarExpert NZ to Offer Kiwis Independent, High-Quality New Car Reviews

Last updated: 20 November 2025

Trade Me is teaming up with CarExpert.com.au, Australia’s biggest new-car destination, in a joint venture to launch CarExpert NZ (CENZ) early next year.

This partnership is all about making the process of researching and comparing new cars easier for you. Kiwi buyers will get access to quality, independent new car reviews, giving New Zealanders the confidence to make better purchasing decisions in a rapidly growing market of new car brands and models.

"This joint venture with CarExpert will bring together the strength of Trade Me’s audience with CarExpert’s proven expertise," said Head of Trade Me Motors, Brendan Hall.

"The constant influx of new models can make buying a new car feel overwhelming. Our aim is to make this process easier for Kiwi. CarExpert NZ will provide the high-quality, independent content needed to help car buyers research, compare, and make confident decisions about the new cars available."

Mr Hall added, "We invested in CarExpert because of the proven success they’ve had in Australia. Their content engages with millions of Aussies every month, proving its strong resonance with car buyers across the ditch."

The CarExpert Story

Founded in 2020 by Alborz Fallah, Anthony Crawford, and Paul Maric, CarExpert has quickly become one of Australia’s most influential automotive brands. They are known for their independent reviews, in-depth video content, and expert comparison tools that attract millions of monthly visitors.

"This joint venture and investment by Trade Me represents a huge vote of confidence in what we’ve built at CarExpert," said Alborz Fallah, Founder of CarExpert.com.au. "We’ve always believed consumers deserve transparency, trust, and genuinely independent advice when it comes to buying a new car, and now we can bring that same experience to New Zealanders."

"With Trade Me’s support and understanding of the local market, we’ll be able to offer New Zealanders the same high-quality, data-driven, and entertaining car content that’s resonated so strongly in Australia," Fallah added.

Investing in Local Talent

CENZ is immediately starting to recruit for key roles, including a General Manager and Editor-in-Chief to lead the New Zealand operations. The company is searching for leading New Zealand automotive talent, including a prominent local reviewer-driver to become the authoritative face of new car reviews in the market.

Unlocking Audiences for Dealers

CENZ's independent new car content and reviews will be shared across multiple platforms, including its own dedicated new website, Trade Me, and Stuff.co.nz.

"Dealerships and manufacturers will benefit from the new partnership that will attract and inform Kiwi car buyers, driving valuable, high-intent leads straight to them," said Mr Hall.

"Our immediate focus is on growing our new car audience and content for Kiwi car enthusiasts and serious buyers," added Mr Hall. "This is an exciting opportunity to be an attractive channel for dealers and car brands to market their offerings."

CarExpert NZ is set to launch in early 2026.
