Terms and conditions
These terms and conditions govern the Trade Me Property Community Grant Program (“Program”). Trade Me may modify these terms and conditions at any time. The updated terms can be found on www.trademe.co.nz/c/promo/trade-me-property-community-grants.
Purpose and objectives
The purpose of the Program is to support real estate agents and offices and their involvement in local community groups and other charitable causes they are passionate about by providing financial assistance directly to the relevant Office.
The Program provides one-off grants and is not intended as a recurring funding source. Decisions on grants are in the sole discretion of Trade Me and/or the Trade Me Property Community Grant Committee (“Committee”).
The Program aims to:
support offices within their local community by providing funding to go towards community groups and charities that are close to their hearts; and
address a real need and make a visible impact and difference in local communities by supporting worthwhile causes.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for this Program, the applicant (“Applicant”) must:
be a licensed Agency; and
apply through www.trademe.co.nz/c/promo/trade-me-property-community-grants and complete the application form.
The individual making the application on behalf of the Applicant must be:
an employee of (or otherwise formally associated with) the Applicant;
appropriately authorised by the Applicant to make the application and must have notified the Office business owner of their intention to make the application; and
prepared to liaise between, and communicate with, the named community organisation and Trade Me Property in relation to the application, grant and its implementation under this Program.
You will not be eligible for this Program if:
the agency trust account of the Applicant for receipt of payment is not registered for GST.
Assessment of applications
Applications will be reviewed by the Committee to ensure they meet the assessment criteria. All decisions of the Committee are final.
The purpose and objectives of the Program should be carefully considered and incorporated into your application. Trade Me Property may require the Applicant to provide further documentation at any stage of the application process.
The grant pool is limited and as such, not all applications regardless of eligibility criteria, will be successful. Successful applications may be granted up to $5,000 excluding GST (if applicable). Applications demonstrating the following will be prioritised:
alignment with the purpose of the Program;
the grant will benefit a New Zealand based charity, organisation, community, institution or event and the recipients are in New Zealand;
the beneficiary has a good reputation and is known for being honest and genuine;
the grant supports a group of people rather than an individual; and
the grant is intended to be used in the 3 month period following the successful application.
Successful Applicants will be contacted by their Trade Me Property representative and also in writing from Trade Me Property via email. The successful Applicant must then provide an invoice for the approved grant amount for Trade Me to pay.
Other funding may also be awarded outside of the Program at the sole discretion of Trade Me Property.
Successful applications
Conditions for the receipt and use of approved grants under the Program are as follows:
approved grants will only be paid to the agency trust account of the Applicant. Funds will not be awarded directly to the nominated community organisation;
successful Applicants will need to issue an invoice to Trade Me for the approved grant amount to facilitate payment. Any successful Applicant who has not provided the required invoice by the notified time may forfeit their grant;
the Applicant must notify the nominated community organisation immediately upon approval of the grant under this Program;
the Applicant must consent, and obtain the consent of the nominated community organisation, to participate in Trade Me Property marketing and promotional activities relating to the Program, including use of relevant logos.
the funds must only be used for spending directly related to supporting the nominated community organisation and funds must be used for the purpose described in the application; and
the grant is provided in the form of a one-off funding and no liability is assumed by Trade Me Property for any aspect of the grant or items purchased in connection with the Program.
The Applicant is responsible for implementing the grant, including obtaining the relevant authorisation or consent from the nominated community organisation receiving the funding.
Grants under the Program will not be awarded, and may not be used, for:
coverage of expenses or travel for personal fundraising efforts or personal activities where the nominated community organisation has no involvement;
cash payments to individuals (this includes depositing into individual bank accounts); or
any organisations funding or promoting political, religious or military pursuits.
Records and requests for extension
All successful Applicants must keep adequate records relating to the use of any funds awarded under the Program. The successful Applicant must provide such records on request by Trade Me Property.
If the awarded funds are not used within the time frame indicated in the application, a successful Applicant may request an extension, in writing to the Applicantʼs Trade Me Property representative. Such requests will be reviewed by the Committee on a case by case basis and a decision made by the Committee at its sole discretion.
Withdrawal of funds
Trade Me Property may withdraw funds at its sole discretion if:
insufficient information or evidence is provided by the Applicant to validate the use of the funds in accordance with the relevant application and these terms and conditions;
a request to the Committee for an extension to use the grant is denied;
the Applicant is in breach of these terms and conditions; or
relevant legislation and regulations are not complied with.
