Get a better understanding of property value across New Zealand

Whether you’re buying, selling, or just curious, Trade Me Property makes it easy to check a home’s estimated value with our powerful property valuation tools.
From Auckland to Christchurch, and everywhere in between, you’ll find the insights you need to understand your home’s worth and make more confident decisions.
What is a Property Valuation?
A property valuation estimates how much a property might sell for in the current market. It uses recent sales data, local property trends, and specific property features to estimate a likely value.
Whether you're preparing to sell, buy, or just keeping tabs on your own home, it's a useful way to make more informed decisions.

Our free property valuation tool: HomesEstimate
The HomesEstimate is a free, automated online property valuation tool that provides an estimated value based on real-time sales data and publicly available information.
- Regularly updated for accuracy
- Available for both listed and off-market properties
- A top free property valuation tool for everyday users
To find a property’s HomesEstimate, use Sold Search to locate the address, then scroll down to the HomesEstimate section on the property page.
You'll find the up-to-date HomesEstimate on the property page.
Recently Sold Search
Find out what similar homes have sold for near you. The Recently Sold feature helps you explore current property market valuation data across New Zealand.
Council Valuations
For many properties, we also show the CV (Capital Value) information from local councils. CVs are typically updated every 3 years and are based on broad market trends and property attributes at the time of the assessment. Councils use these valuations to calculate what share of rates a homeowner needs to pay.
Unlike the HomesEstimate, which updates regularly using recent sales data and local trends, CVs are less responsive to short-term market changes, so they’re best used as a general benchmark rather than a current market valuation.
CV data can be useful when comparing properties in the same area or assessing changes over time alongside other tools like HomesEstimate.
